I'm so excited to be going to the Iowa Summer Writing Festival this year. My kids are 9 and 13, so they can handle my absence, MIL is going to Assisted Living for a week, today I'll start making the To-Do lists that will keep my husband from losing his mind, and I'm set.
Eight days of nothing but writing! That's worth an exclamation point.
If you're a writer, or wish you were, look at one of my earlier posts for the link, and sign up. This is about becoming a better writer, which will lead to success. I used to think the key was meeting an agent, schmoozing at conferences, etc., but now I can see that until the writing is incredible, there's no point making a first impression on somebody and getting that wonderful invitation to submit. I did that, and the writing wasn't ready, so the opportunity disappeared like smoke.
Never again. This draft is going to knock people's socks off, and until it does, I'm going to keep working on it. Iowa is how I learn all the things about writing I didn't know that I didn't know. If you don't know what you don't know, I highly recommend Iowa.
