I didn't realize how much time had passed since I blogged! I've been working on Revenge, but now I'm also working on a three-chapter "audition" for a Young Adult project. I was the feminista who swore in high school never to change her name so everybody would know (when I became a famous writer) that it was ME! Now I'm working my buns off to get a ghostwriting job that won't even have my married name on it.
Yet this is so much fun! Knowing that the plot is pre-approved is so FREEING. The dilemma comes when I find myself thinking of little plot twists and character details that aren't in the approved summary. I don't want to blow the deal by taking too many liberties, but I have this dream that they'll LOVE my embellishments and thank me for them. I suppose I'd better send an e-mail before I float off on a puffy cloud of my own brilliance and tick them off.
And there's the fact that even if they pick my sample chapters (out of, I suspect, the 7 or 8 they'll get from other writers), they have to sell the project to a publisher before I reap any reward. Still, what a great opportunity!
AND DON'T ASK ME FOR ANY DETAILS OF PLOT, CLIENT, ETC. YOU'LL HAVE TO TORTURE ME BEFORE I'LL TALK.
